Our Policies
How we choose policies
How does The Policy Project choose which policies to take on?
Guiding Objectives
Every policy solution must align with our core objectives:
Support children and families
Build the middle class
Strengthen public education
Ensure individuals can meet basic needs
Fix inefficient and inequitable systems
Promote mental and physical health
Prevent violence and exploitation
These principles act as a filter, ensuring that each policy we pursue is people-centered and sustainable.
Our Scorecard
We take on issues where policy solutions are both needed and possible. To make that decision, we evaluate every potential policy using four criteria:
Alignment with our values
Nonpartisan, inclusive, and supportive of underserved populations.
Impact
Ability to reach as many of Utah’s 3.3 million residents as possible.
Feasibility
Strong backing from lawmakers, communities, and donors.
Data-driven outcomes
Informed by research and evidence, including success in other states.
