The Policy Project is a statewide organization, and we are grateful for the incredible contributions of volunteers across Utah. While most volunteer roles can be completed remotely, we ask that all volunteers plan to travel to Salt Lake City twice a year for key in-person gatherings—once for our summer training and again for our fall policy kickoff event (usually the Rally at the Capitol in November). Additionally, some volunteer roles (such as Event Coordinators or Community Outreach Specialists) involve attending many community events throughout the year.
We recognize that travel requires time and resources. To help offset costs, volunteers may track mileage and claim a $0.15 per mile deduction on their taxes, in accordance with IRS guidelines for charitable volunteer work. For more information, consult your tax advisor or visit irs.gov.
If travel or lodging costs would prevent you from attending these events, please reach out to your supervisor. We want to ensure everyone can participate and are committed to making accommodations where possible.
